Poland is one of the fastest-growing economies in Central and Eastern Europe. The Republic of Poland has a population of 38 million and its national currency is the Polish zloty. It has been an EU member state since 2004.

The Polish insurance industry experienced growth in the non-life segment over the past few years on one hand and a decline in the life sector on the other. Regulatory changes regarding taxation and distribution channels are not facilitating underwriting activities. The life segment is expected to grow at a moderate pace as some households still cannot afford it. The non-life segment is expected to grow as a result of the positive economic environment.
